Now

I study why people disengage from the systems meant to support their health, and what it would take to design technology that holds onto them without stripping away their dignity.

That question led me to build Laguna Companion Service, a care-communication platform for patients and caregivers, built entirely by myself and now in pilot with a small group of users in Kaohsiung. The live deployment doubles as a field site: every engagement pattern it surfaces feeds the research questions I am preparing to take into doctoral work on adaptive AI support in long-term care.

Alongside the platform, I do sustained ethnographic accompaniment of older adults, family carers, and migrant care workers across medical and administrative settings in Taiwan.

The Path Here

Architecture

Spatial dynamics and design thinking at Feng Chia University. The first training in reading a designed system.

Film

A BA in Radio, Television and Film, then an Erasmus+ screenwriting master's across Scotland, Portugal and Estonia. Screenwriting taught me to reconstruct a person's decisions from their own point of view, not from the system's account of it.

Brand & marketing

A decade across agencies and health platforms, from integrated campaigns for Nike and Toyota to community engagement models for a health lifestyle platform in Kaohsiung.

Care

Three years as a full-time caregiver for both my parents through their cancer treatment. This is where the research question found me, inside hospitals and administrative systems that had no room for either of them.
